ZYKON JoyRider Pro 4-in-1 part 3

Performance (continued)

Motorcycle with gas and brake

This is the most disappointing mode. I had hoped it would be the best and it let me down. Because it shares the same software configuration as the car mode gas and brake are unrealistically controlled with your feet. There is no way to control the pitch of your bike making racing in Motocross Madness 1/2 impossible. Motorcycle control was better using the motorcycle setup and the yoke and throttle profile (with the shaft unlocked). This allowed for pitch control of the bike.

Flight stick with throttle and rudder

As with the yoke, throttle and rudder setup the pedals and throttle were not sufficient. The stick is also off-center (on the far right of the base) and too close to the wheel.

See above. This mode removes throttle control and activates the 4 way hat switch on the stick. All 4 of the active buttons are located on the stick and the rudder is active. This is the best laid out flight setup for the JoyRider but it still only provides average control.

Two stick (another JoyRider or other controller)

I only have 1 JoyRider so I was unable to put this one to task. However it essentially uses the JoyRider as a "Y" splitter. This inactivates half of the buttons and axis controls on each controller. In practice this is not very useful of a feature.

Overall performance of the JoyRider Pro was below average. The calibration often slipped, the control surfaces do not allow precision and the layout of most modes is inconvenient.

Conclusion:

The JoyRider Pro 4-in-1 from ZYKON is a great idea. The implementation is not too bad. The controller offers many things for a low price but the benefit of each is stretched across its value. In other words you get what you pay for. If you consider you are getting 4 controllers for about $15 each bundled into one package it sounds pretty good.

The problem is the JoyRider Pro does not excel in any of the areas it covers; instead it has you hoping for a better controller. It functions, just not well. The Control Center does not recommend the ZYKON JoyRider Pro 4-in-1.
